Hey how ya going mate, your podcast was bloody awesome as I agree because you do need to listen & make friendships first on any social network before boasting about yourself other than what is written in your profile then people can always ask you later for more info if they need it etc, as in the long run as you say you could get customers or referrals out of these new friendships over time even from other countries if your business is worldwide. But I'm still very new to Twitter so see how it all goes mate.

So many people just don't get twitter, but as always it is about providing value.
I love the analogy you used that you wouldn't walk straight into a cocktail party and yell at the top of your lungs look at me.
But so many people seem to think that it is the way to use twitter.
